Archer lives in Tipton and as a councillor for Princes End ward, he has fought for funding for Tipton and other deprived areas within Sandwell.
Archer has a history of community and political activism. He championed the campaign to save Walker Grange care home in Tipton; he led the campaign within Sandwell council and played a key role in saving the care home.
Archer championed the campaign to change the 2021 tenancy proposal agreements which attacked the rights to free speech for Sandwell residents. This was another successful campaign.
“Many people in Princes End are rightly proud of their community but believe that the council has neglected the area and taken them for granted. My overriding aim is to put that right” says Archer.
"I was raised in an area with a lot of anti-social behaviour” says Archer “and saw the destructive effects it had on those who committed it as well as on the community” Consequently, he is strong on law and order and has been working with the council and police to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Road-safety has also been a key issue for Archer, he proposed a motion to full council for a pro-active approach to implementing speed calming measures, which resulted in a road safety review for the Sandwell borough. Many Sandwell residents believe that the council have been taking a reactive approach to road safety for too long; resulting in unnecessary casualties.
He also served as council group leader of Sandwell Conservatives and led the group into the May 2022 elections.
Working as a Careers Adviser has given Archer the opportunity to help the jobless and educationally disadvantaged. “I believe that everyone is entitled to realise their potential” he says “I’m grateful that my job allows me to help them attain this goal”
In his leisure time Archer has done voluntary work at Sandwell Hospital and counselling through Sandwell Advocacy.
