Resident in Old Warley, Jay knows the problems and concerns of the area.
His professional banking experience means that he brings to the table business and analytical skills.
Married with a young family, Jay is concerned that educational provision is the best obtainable. He has been trustee and governor at a Multi Academy Trust school in Smethwick. “Education is the foundation for success in life” says Jay “Every young person is entitled to the help to reach their full potential”.
Like many Old Warley people, Jay is troubled by the increase in drug use and violent crime in the area. “Young people need facilities to properly channel their energies” he says “but the law, particularly on drugs, needs to be enforced”
Jay’s concern for the environment is reflected in his service as trustee/director of the Birmingham and Black Country Trust which manages over 20 wild life sanctuaries in the West Midlands. “It’s scandalous that Sandwell council fails to cherish and preserve its green spaces” says Jay “Valuable recreational assets are destroyed unnecessarily while brown field sites remain abandoned eyesores”
Jay is also disturbed by the lack of GP provision in the area and the impact this has, particularly for the elderly.
